History
Pakall is an Australian-owned, family-run business and a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging for the food and non-food sectors.
Founded by Roger and Beverley Paynter over 50 years ago in 1974.
From humble beginnings selling general packaging materials from their West End, Brisbane premises, after recognising a shift in the market towards the need for flexible films, Roger and Beverley custom built their first polyethylene extrusion facility in 1982.
This expansion helped to revolutionise the way fresh food and food material were being processed and stored.
Fast forward to 2012, to accommodate customers ever evolving packaging requirements and to meet industry demand, Pakall moved again to larger premises enabling the business to expand into multilayer film and barrier products.
Handing over the reins of the day-to-day management of the business to son Greg in 2010, Roger continues to support the business and its customers to the present day.

Roger Paynter
Roger Paynter began his career as an aircraft engineer before launching Pakall in 1974 — driven by a vision to bring world-class packaging materials to the Australian market. From introducing bubble wrap to importing tape from Italy, he helped shape the packaging landscape long before local manufacturing took hold.
His deep product knowledge and straight-talking approach have earned him a loyal customer base over five decades. Roger still enjoys visiting clients on the road and remains closely involved in sales. Off the clock, he’s a motorsport enthusiast and proud mentor to the next generation — supporting his son Greg and daughter-in-law Sheree as they lead Pakall forward.
Greg
Gregory Paynter
With over two decades of experience in packaging and a lifetime immersed in the industry, Gregory Paynter brings both insight and ingenuity to his dual role across Sales and Production. His approach is simple: understand the customer’s challenge, then create the solution — whether it’s a bespoke packaging design or a sustainability project tailored to their values.
Greg’s fingerprints are on some of Pakall’s most forward-thinking innovations, and his satisfaction comes from seeing those projects come to life — and customers walk away happy. He brings honesty, drive, and deep operational knowledge to every conversation. Outside of work, Greg is all about family, sport or indulging in his love of motorsport.
Sheree
Sheree Paynter
Sheree combines her legal expertise with a healthy dose of humour in managing the day to day operation as CFO at Pakall. With a Bachelor of Laws from QUT and nearly two decades with the company, she’s been instrumental in evolving the business’s financial and operational systems — ensuring they’re not only robust, but future-ready.
Sheree thrives on the dynamic pace of her work and loves seeing the business grow from its humble 1970s roots into a 21st-century player in packaging innovation. Away from spreadsheets and strategy, she’s a proud mum of three who finds joy in good friends, great conversation, and the occasional passport stamp. Her values — integrity, accountability, and commitment — are embedded in every decision she makes.
